Why I Built This Site

I'm Darrin T. Mish. I've been a tax attorney since 1998. In that time, I've resolved over $100 million in IRS tax debt for people in every situation you can imagine: small business owners who fell behind, families going through divorce, retirees who took distributions they couldn't afford the tax on, self-employed people who never made estimated payments.

Every single one of them was terrified when they called me. Most had been losing sleep for months or years. Many had been avoiding opening their mail.

I built this site because the first thing people do when they realize they have a tax problem is Google it. And what they find is either scare tactics designed to sell them expensive services, or generic government pages that don't answer the real question: what is actually going to happen to me?

About Me

Before tax law, I was a public defender. That background taught me to outwork the other side and fight for people who feel like the system is stacked against them. Those instincts translate directly to IRS work.

I live on a cattle farm outside Tampa with my wife Heather. I collect vintage Volkswagens. I host a podcast about tax resolution. I'm a real person, not a corporation, and I treat clients the way I'd want to be treated if I had an IRS problem.

My practice is based in Tampa, but I represent clients nationwide. IRS cases are federal, so your location doesn't limit who can help you.
